What kind of paint should I use for switchplate and outlet covers?

I'm redecorating my daughters room and want to paint designs the light switch and outlet covers. Does anyone know what type of paint should I use? For the 'just buy one "answer, I have considered this option. Nowhere have I looked at (even ebay) had one even close to what I'm looking for. Thanks

If you are using plastic sheeting, sand lightly with fine (120 or higher) sandpaper to rough up the surface a bit first. I use the small bottles of paint made for plastic models (get it at a craft store) just be careful, because those things do not wash if they spill. So to be safe, seal with clear sealer (spray or brush-on) after being made to avoid scratches off.
