How do I wire an output which is controlled by a wall switch?

I have a 3-way wall switch – a switch controlling a ceiling fan, one controls the light in the ceiling fan, and the third switch controls a wall outlet (for a lamp, etc..) changed the output a control switch, but now when a device is plugged into that outlet, but it does not switch on and off.
